Dianne Lay is a watercolor artist based in Sunriver, Oregon. Her work captures the quiet poetry of everyday life through the soft flow and subtlety of transparent watercolor. Using light and color, she explores the emotional nuances of ordinary moments, often inspired by the natural world and deeply rooted in personal memory.
Much of Dianne’s subject matter reflects her connection to place. Her early years in Nebraska left a lasting impression — vast skies, distant storms, and open landscapes — while her time in Oregon’s Willamette Valley brought lush greens, misty mornings, and coastal moods into her visual language. Now living in the high desert of Sunriver, she continues to find beauty in the contrast between memory and presence, stillness and change.
Working primarily in the wet-in-wet technique, Dianne embraces watercolor’s delicate balance of control and unpredictability. Each painting is a quiet collaboration with pigment, paper, water, and atmosphere — a process that mirrors life itself.
For Dianne, painting is a calling. She paints what moves her — a color, a memory, a fleeting mood — and shares her work in hopes of sparking that same resonance in others: a moment of beauty, joy, or reflection.
Dianne is proud to be a member of the Artists’ Gallery Sunriver, located in the Village at Sunriver, Oregon. In October 2025 she was awarded signature status in the Watercolor Society of Oregon. An active member of the creative community, Dianne has also been involved with Emerald Empire Art Association, Corvallis Art Guild, and Keizer Art Association. She has served on the boards of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Springfield Arts Commission, and the W.S.O. 100 Club, Inc.
