Pemberton’s earliest works include lifesize ceramic self-portraits, installations of melting ice, found objects, bronze castings, and audio/video composites. In addition to making drawings and expanding his growing catalog of collaborative public art projects in California and Oregon, he is most known for his spectrum of abstract metal compositions. He works predominantly in sculpture derived from steel with an emphasis on post-industrial materials, exhibiting in several galleries over the last 25 years. He is driven by environmentalism and a pursuit of “shade-tree” knowledge, scrutinizing the long view where a curiosity about our past, present, and future progress will continue to guide his path forward.
