Plush Oregon Sunstone is a truly unique and wonderful gem to work with. Since 2004, I’ve built my entire business around this one important gemstone. In terms of color, beauty and wear ability, Oregon Sunstone stands out in the gemstone world.

I have a 40 year background in all areas of the jewelry industry. My road began with mining gem tourmaline in Southern California in the early 1970’s. That endeavor lead to travel to African gem mines and lots of adventure. I also owned and operated six fine jewelry stores in California , Hawai’i and Japan over the next 35 years.

I was introduced to Sunstone from the Dust Devil Mine and I was hooked! I dropped everything, closed my last jewelry store and moved to Bend, Oregon to pursue the marketing and ‘romancing’ of natural Oregon Sunstone.

As a jewelry designer, I find this gem exciting to work with. There is a color for everyone’s taste. I also grade rough material from the mine to determine its future….will the rough be a carving, a finely faceted bead, a concave faceted gem or combined with other color coordinated gem materials in a unique piece of jewelry? My background in all aspects of the Gem and Jewelry industry combined to prepare me for this current adventure.
