Artists' Gallery Sunriver

Growing up in Africa and South America and having been heavily influenced by the art in other cultures, my work tends to use a great deal of texture and bright colors. I think the intensity of the information that bombards the senses in third world countries is what I am subconsciously attempting to recreate. I constantly search for ways to incorporate a different kinesthetic quality to my pieces even to the point of having used gravel, pottery shards, rope and kitty litter in past work. The highest compliments I have received are when viewers tell me my creations make them happy, and when children approach with outstretched hands to touch a piece –something they are welcome to do. Collecting folk art from around the world and living in Northern New Mexico, and now Central Oregon have contributed to my imagination and creativity. Working in my studio has been my most gratifying means of self-expression.
