Artists' Gallery Sunriver

Sunriver, Oregon is the home of artist, Dianne Lay. She believes beauty, in whatever form, is vital to
life. She is inspired by the beauty of nature, bringing this into her watercolors. The soft flow and
subtlety of form that characterizes transparent watercolor is the essence of much of Dianne’s work.
She accomplishes this through the technique of wet-in-wet transparent watercolor. She also
incorporates her love of quilts by developing what she refers to as “pieced watercolors” on paper,
which have a similarity to pieced quilts, that incorporate metallic paint and are stitched together with
metallic thread. Dianne shares her watercolors “…to enable others to bring beauty, which touches
them in some way, into their living environment.”

Dianne’s art training is achieved through classes and workshops by various local, regional and
national accomplished artists. She credits reading and practice to be a large part of her continuing
education. Her inspiration comes from long walks in nature and fond memories of her life
experiences.

Dianne’s watercolors have been shown in various local, regional and statewide shows in Oregon. She
believes that painting is just one portion of being an artist; being involved in the artistic community is
another. She has volunteered for several non-profit art organization’s throughout Oregon.
