This quote sums up Barb Gonzalez’s approach to photography. A Bend, Oregon resident, she hikes with her intrepid corgis, immersing herself in the magical landscapes, fairyland forests and waterfalls, and dramatic coastline of the Pacific Northwest. After a lifetime passion for photography, Gonzalez worked as a travel photographer for 15 years that, included a weekly photo spread on the cover of Bend Bulletin’s Lifestyle section for 10 years and billboards for the Oregon State Lottery. This experience honed her ability to connect to what makes a place unique. As she moved into fine art photography, she allowed herself to be more creative and connect more deeply— expertly using dramatic light, composition, and lines to tell the story and transport the viewer into the very heart of the moment. She still travels beyond her home base to capture extraordinary images. Beyond her pieces, Barb extends her expertise through hands-on workshops in remarkable locales and conducts online classes designed to empower others to capture and convey the beauty of their own experiences.
